COLUMBUS — Arthur A. Miksch, 89, of Columbus, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Columbus. Rev. Joseph A. Miksch and Rev. Vernon Olmer will officiate. Interment will be at Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery, Platte Center.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. Vigil at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation continues from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, at the church.

Arthur A. Miksch was born April 27, 1920, on a farm in Platte County, to Louis and Mary (Scharff) Miksch. He was raised on a farm south of Platte Center and received his education at District 3 and at St. Joseph's School. Art married Mildred Olmer on Aug. 29, 1950, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Art farmed all his life northwest of Columbus. He retired in 1985. In 1991 he moved to Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus and the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Miksch, Columbus; daughter, Marilyn (Allen) Small, Fullerton, and their children, Scott, Becky (Justin) Crouse, Michelle, Sara and Christina Small; son, Eugene Miksch of Loveland, Colo., and his children, Jon, Katie, and Lisa Miksch; son, Ronald Miksch, Columbus; son, Melvin (Karen) Miksch, Columbus; and their children, Megan, Rachel and Tyler Miksch; son, Joseph (Roberta) Miksch, Columbus; and their children, Ryan, Laura and Emily Miksch; sister, Agnes Luetkenhaus, Lindsay; brother, Louis Miksch, Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Miksch; mother, Mary Miksch; sister & brother-in-law, Helen (Gene) Bernt; brother-in-law, Gene Luetkenhaus.

In Lieu of flowers Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
