COLUMBUS — James R. Terry, 63, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home Chapel. Fr. Mike Keating will officiate. Interment will be at all Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Military Honors with Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home.

James Terry was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Fred and Gladys Terry. After his father’s death, James was raised by his mother and step-father, Everette Williams. They lived in Joplin, Mo., Lagdon, Kan., and while in the 11th grade they moved to Lambert, Mont., where he graduated from high school. James entered the US Army and served in Vietnam. Following his time in the service, he moved to Billings, Mont., where he worked in the logging industry. James moved to Columbus in 1986. On June 7, 1991, he was united in marriage to Karen Stempek Adkisson. He worked for Behlen Mfg. until retiring for health reasons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and making jewelry.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Terry, of Columbus; daughter, Kim (Jon) Linderman, of Ronan, Mont.; son, James E. Terry, of Kalispell, Mont.; step-son, Shane Adkisson, of Columbus; step-son, Jon Adkisson of Euless, Texas; step-daughter, Michele Adkisson, of Euless, Texas; step-son, Ryan Adkisson, of Omaha; grandson, Brock Linderman, of Ronan, Mont.; grandson, Dillon Linderman, of Ronan, Mont.; granddaughter, JonEllie Linderman, of Ronan, Mont.; step-granddaughter, Brittney Adkisson, of Euless, Texas; sister, Liz Jester, of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Mary Lake of Sidney, Mont.; sister, Christine Greenway, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; step-father, Everette Williams, of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
