Questions for news department:
Do you offer archived articles online, I would like to search for an article from a few years ago. I know I did this several years ago. Is this service discontinued?
Anonymous
No, this service is not discontinued. You can still search the Columbus Telegram archives via our Web site.
Just go to the Home page and on the left-hand side of the site you will see an archive search box. Type in the word(s) you want to search for and then click the "go" button. You will then be taken to articles that ran within the last two weeks that pertain to your search criteria .
If you want to search beyond the two-week time frame, click on "New Search." Then click the "Advanced Search Options." Type in a keyword(s) here and also a publication date or range. You will then be able to view stories beyond the "Simple Search" or two-week time frame.
Our archives go back to 1999, so you should be able to find an article that ran several years ago.
Good luck.

Has there been changes made lately in Local Obituaries section of Columbus Telegram Online?
It is not at all like it was presented several weeks ago. It was more informative then.
Anonymous
There have been some changes to the obituaries. We will still publish all of our free obituaries online. We have also added a "paid obituary" classification that allows families to include any information they feel is important about their loved one. This has been very positively received and allows families to include more personal information than had been allowed in the past.

I am a business owner in a small town surrounding Columbus. Do you feel that advertising in your newspaper would benefit me, being out of your main market area?
Anonymous
The Columbus Telegram and Telegram Advantage reach every household in our 7 county market area. Our readers (both in Columbus and the smaller surrounding communities) look to the Telegram as their number one advertising source.
One of our account representatives would be happy to assist you in putting together a campaign that would ensure an increase in sales for your business.

I've noticed on the weather news that Columbus' temperature is almost always higher than anywhere else in the state. I was told that the temp. reading comes from the Loup Power House where it is more out in an open area. Is this true or explain to me why this is?
Sharon
We get the rainfall and snowfall information from the Loup Power House. The temperature comes from the Flight Service Station who reports it to the Weather service.
