ALBION -- Wendell Lynn Iverson, 65, of Albion, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his son’s home in La Vista.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Albion with Rev. Barry McCormick and Rev. Blaine Prichett officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Wendell Lynn Iverson, the son of Arnold and Wendolyn (Peterson) Iverson, was born on Nov. 5, 1944, at Norfolk. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Albion. Lynn attended Boone County School District No. 74 until the eighth grade, he then attended Albion High School and graduated in 1962.
On Jan. 13, 1963, Lynn was united in marriage to Carol Rae Atwater at the United Methodist Church in Albion. The couple made their home in Albion, until moving to a farm northwest of town in 1973, where they raised their 4 children. Lynn worked for the gas company for a couple of years before he started farming. In 1993 Lynn was one of the first people employed by Sentinel Buildings in Albion. He drove a truck for them, and later did welding. Lynn worked there until April of this year.
Lynn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Albion, and the Albion JC’s. He enjoyed going to his eight grandchildren’s sporting and musical events. In the last ten years Lynn has been an avid stock car racing fan, following his grandson and many other drivers from the Albion area. For over 25 years Lynn has shared his beautiful voice with the community, singing for funerals and weddings.
Lynn is survived by his four children, Kerri Schlange and husband, Bill, of Springfield; Kelly Iverson and wife, Lori, of Albion; David Iverson and wife, Angie, of Springfield; Mark Iverson and wife, Heather, of La Vista; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Katrina and Noah Schlange, Tyler and Taylor Iverson, Emily, Alyssa and Elizabeth Iverson; brother, Alan Iverson and wife, Lorraine, of Broken Bow; brother-in-law, Leon Conrad, of Lincoln; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol in March of 2009; daughter, Evie Nicole; and sister, Karen Conrad.
