Scotus has the magic in state volleyball

Two years in a row the Shamrocks have topped the Crusaders of GICC. It seems like this is a real positive for the city. How do you see the positives?

Don't think beating GICC is a special positive but winning the State Volleyball Championsip as an underdog sure is! Not so much for the win but for the character that the girls showed. As Rachel Scholtz (x Nebraska player) said it's not surviving the pressure but embracing the moment. The girls sure did! I have no relation to the Scotus volleyball team but let me tell you - it was a match to remember. I had two TV's on, and the portable radio buds in my ears. Loved KLIR's play by play announcing! The match was more exciting and nerve wracking than the Husker game! Congratulations Scotus! You made it a special day!! The reward for working so hard is a day you will never forget and a town that is very proud of you! It's not magic - it is keeping the tradition! Hats off to you!

To the Volleyball Team and Fans: I know you can order the DVD of the televised broadcast but somehow you have to get the recording of KLIR's radio broadcast. Come on KLIR, make it available to them! We aren't affialated with Scotus or even Catholic but even my husband called me from work and said "wow"!

Don Strecker does a fantastic job for KLIR. We weren't able to attend the match, but listening to Don at times makes you feel like you are! Great job to Scotus and the coaches.

My family doesn't attend St. Bon's or Scotus - but it was a fantastic game. And it's great to see a Columbus team go to State and to top it all off - WIN IT! Congrats girls and coach. You should be proud of your hard work.

now if we could only get Coach Peterson to coach the football teams in town, then things might turn around

Coach Petersen is unbelievable, and he always deflects all credit to the players and his assistant coaches. John Wooden may be the Wizard of Westwood, but John Petersen has made the state volleyball tournament his own invitational. Congratulations Coach.

Special thanks to Don Strecker for calling great games-believe me that is tough work but it brings alot to those of us that cannot be there.

Awesome job Shamrocks! The coaches, especially, should be proud of their record.

I was at Lakeview over ten years ago, and they were awesome then. This says a lot for the coaching staff. Unbelievable.

Congratulations to the volleyball team and to the town of Columbus! We always look so forward to playing some good volleyball with such a talented group of athletes. And, to the coaches....John Peterson, you should be coaching D-1 college volleyball! I've come to learn that it doesn't matter how far down you are at the beginning of the season, because at the end you're a whole new team! Again, congratulations, this is very exciting for your town and school.

See you next year,

How very nice of you to offer your congratulations! As they say, the schools are competing as friends. Good Luck to GICC! They too had a fantastic season. The girls on both teams showed they are true athletes. Their poise was amazing and the level of competition of both teams made us all watch in admiration. A pat on the back to all the parents as well. THAT match had to be the ultimate in nerve wrecking!
