COLUMBUS -- Darlene Hentges, 70, of Columbus, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1565 18th Ave., in Columbus.

A vigil will be 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, McKown Funeral Home Chapel, 2922 13th St., in Columbus. Visitation will be at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus after 4 p.m. Monday and 8-10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.

Memorials can be sent to the wishes of the family.

Darlene Hentges was born April 12, 1939 in Hays, Kan., to George and Hilda (Rupp) Bollig. She was raised in Kansas before moving to Columbus during high school. Darlene graduated from St. Bonaventure School in 1956. On Feb. 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Hentges at St. Bonaventure Church. Darlene raised her family and worked at Dale Electronics, the Post Office, Becton-Dickinson and taught swim lessons at the Aquatic Center. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and did volunteer work at the nursing home. She enjoyed puzzles, playing Scrabble, cards, and dominoes.

She is survived by: Husband, John Hentges of Columbus; daughter, Cheri Scallin of Euless, Texas; son, Kenneth (Gloria) Hentges of Ringold, La.; daughter, Christine Hentges of Columbus; brother, Carl (Janet) Bollig of Columbus; sister, Janet (Glenn) Neighbors of North Platte; sister, Deborah Lastoka of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandson, Nick Hentges; granddaughter, Lisa Crawford; grandson, Donald Hentges; grandson, Paul Scallin; great-grandson, Justin Golik.

She is preceded in death by: Father, George Bollig; mother, Hilda Bollig; sister, Cheryl Keith; twin brothers, Lawrence and Dorrance Bollig.
