Brent Dixon

COLUMBUS -- Brent Dixon, 12, of Columbus, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, as a result of an auto accident.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, with Revs. John E. Nelson Jr. and Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may directed to the Christ Lutheran School Building Fund.

Brent Dixon was born Aug. 3, 1997, in Nebraska City, to Mike and Karla (Korte) Dixon. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Brent was a student at Christ Lutheran School where he was very active in the school and church. Brent enjoyed reading, playing video games, baseball, midget football, swimming, and going to his sister and brothers' speech competitions.

Brent is survived by: Parents: Mike and Karla Dixon of Columbus; sister: Allison Dixon; brother: Jerrod Dixon; grandparents: Harry and Lois Korte of Columbus; grandparents: Tom and Dorothy Dixon of Harvard; godparents: Sharon Schaneman and Bruce Korte; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brent was preceded in death by: Aunt: Laura Lee Mewhirter.

God Please Bless this young soul and let the angels carry him to a beautiful place so that he may watch over his family and friends and live in eternal peace and happiness. Also Bless the family of this young man and that one day they can understand and go on with life as we know it and live through him and for him with happiness in their hearts. We are sorry to hear of the tragedy, God Bless!!

Bill and I were horrified when we heard the news. I can't even begin to know how you feel, just be assured that our thoughts and our prayers are with you and your family. He is now your little angel and will be with you to guide you til you meet again.

Karla, Mike & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of your son. You have my deepest sympanthies. It is hard to fathom why such a young and vibrant life is taken far too soon. Please know that God has a plan and will care for Brent until you can all be reunited. Our prayers are with you and your family.
