COLUMBUS -- Giving birth to fraternal twins is not a common event. When those twins are the happy result of intervention by a fertility clinic and born in the family van on the way to the hospital, the rarity of the birth enters the category of “nearly astronomical odds.”
Such is the story of Ian and Gianna Braziel, the newborn son and daughter of Zjon and Trish Braziel, of Columbus.
The twins were born on the way to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Sept. 25 with Zjon Braziel at the wheel in the family van.
“We had decided the twins would be born in Lincoln because twins generally need a little more attention,” Trish Braziel said. “We already had an appointment for a C-section set up for November because we knew that Gianna was going to be a breech birth.”

-Thank you one and all for your best wishes...-No, the rumor about waiting on the train to cross, although funny, isn't true... interesting thought!
-As for, "why wait so long..." when we left Columbus, her contractions were over 8 minutes apart and it took over 12 hours for our oldest child to be born, cutting that in half and subtracting an hour should have left us with an easy four to five hour window, not less than 90 minutes.

I clicked on this article with the thought, "Nobody can post something negative about a situation that is so wonderful as having kids", but I had a funny feeling that indeed someone would find some way to interject something negative. Sure enough J chimed in with the condescending negativity that so many posters on these boards are known for.All that is needed is right here, Congratulations to the Braziel family. I am so happy that everything turned out well, and you all have a story to share for many years to come.

My question is do they think the Columbus Hospital is unable to care for twins? The Columbus Hospital has staff and equipment that are very capable to care for twins, in fact they deliver many sets a year. As far as the fact that they were concieved using a fertility specialist means nothing when it comes time for the birth. Just because it was difficult to create them does not mean it would be a difficult birth. Unless there was an underlying issue, a congenital defect that would require special personel (heart defect or something similar) there is no reason to think they would have to be delivered in Lincoln. Congrats to the parents, glad they had a good outcome. It would have been smarter to go to the Columbus Hospital and be checked out prior to heading out for Lincoln. I am sure the staff would have been able to assess you and the situation, determined if there was time to get you to Lincoln and if there was, sent you by ambulance so if delivery occured on the way there would have been trained people to handle it. Just my opinion, but not the best choice to try to make it to Lincoln when we have a good hospital right here in town.Kathie Kresha

Hey folks the twins are really cute! I have held them several times. Why all the negative stuff here? Why don't you sign your names when you post? People make choices, hey just try to make good ones folks it's all you can do! Telegram, I really wish you would require a real name on these posts instead of all the gutless wonders out there flapping their jaws all the time with no accountability. I know it's fun to stir up controversy but really! Would people say these things face to face or in print if they weren't hiding behind a fake name? What's wrong with a little good will once in awhile?!!!!
