COLUMBUS -- An upcoming event will raise awareness and help educate the public about the No. 1 killer of Americans -- heart disease.
The Columbus Leadership Breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Columbus Community Hospital. Dr. Mark and Dee Howerter, chairmen of the upcoming American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, will speak.
Dr. Howerter said the main goal of the breakfast is to get businesses and companies involved in the Fit Friendly Company Campaign, an effort by the heart association to recognize employers that encourage physical activity among their staffs.
The event, however, is open for anyone to attend. Reservations for the breakfast can be made by calling Tracy Kuester at (402) 439-2860 or tracy.kuester@heart.org. The purpose, Howerter said, is two-fold.
