Roundup to benefit humane society
COLUMBUS -- Super Saver is holding a roundup to benefit the Platte Valley Humane Society between today and Sunday.
Pictures and descriptions of adoptable animals will be on display at each check stand. Money raised will go to support the animals at The Erna R. Badstieber Paws & Claws Adoption Center.
Waffleman featured at fundraiser today
COLUMBUS -- The faculty of Immanuel Lutheran School is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat waffle supper from 5-7 p.m. today at the Immanuel Family Life Center, 1470 23rd Ave.
The Waffleman will serve waffles, syrups, whipped cream and sausages. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for ages 5-11, and kids 4 and under eat free.
Proceeds will go to assist the teaching staff with professional growth at the National Lutheran Teachers Conference in Cincinnati.
Cemetery association meeting set Tuesday
CORNLEA -- The Granville Cemetery Association will hold its semi-annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Building, 2263 Third Ave.
The meeting will include nomination of officers, payment of bills and any other pertinent business brought before the association.
An agenda will be posted on the bulletin board of the Platte County Courthouse.
Color theory class at community college
COLUMBUS -- A color theory class will be offered from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 6 in the West Education Center at Central Community College-Columbus.
Students will learn how to use the three primary colors to create all other colors, use black and white to create the shades of gray, and use the color wheel to understand secondary and tertiary colors. Basic shading and toning techniques will be introduced.
Class size is limited, so preregistration is required to reserve a space. The cost is $35, which includes all supplies.

Blood drive set for Rising City
RISING CITY -- Rising City will hold a blood drive from 1:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Hall.
All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Eligible donors must be at least 17 years of age, must weight at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
