COLUMBUS -- Everything already appears to be falling in place for the Central Community College men’s basketball team.

With the 2009 season-opener set for Nov. 6, Columbus got its first taste of the Raiders at an open scrimmage Thursday at the Raider Fieldhouse.

In the scrimmage, Central defeated Morningside College 54-47 and lost to Team Holling 79-72. Team Holling is made up of former college players, including Dusty Jura, of Lakeview, and Bruce Chubick, who played for University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

“This was a great experience for us and I am happy with how we played,” Central head coach Damon Vogt said. “Morningside is a very good team and I am happy with how we played against them. In our second scrimmage, we were out-physicalled a little, which is good for us because we have done that to a few teams in other scrimmages.
