What LOCAL TV news is your favorite and why?

We asked this question last week and got a Fox vs. MSNBC debate. The question is what LOCAL TV news do you like and why?

either 7 or 10. depending on the lead story and weather. i used to watch 6 but ever since that primetime disaster is on before the 6 news i want to stay away from that. occasionally ill also watch 42.

Unless you live in Omaha, Lincoln or GI the local news has very little interest to anyone around here. That is why the debate turned to the national news, afterall we have accuweather now for the only thing that is of any value on the local news. The Telegram needs to realize that people do not care about what goes on in those towns. The reason I look at the Telegram is mostly for local sports and for the local news for Columbus. I do not want to see how the Colts or the Lakers did on the sports page. I know it is very easy to copy and paste an article but I really believe your future depends on what is happening in the Columbus area, and not in Omaha or the big cities.

Channels 7, 10, and 42.

I believe most of us knew what question the Telegram was asking, but the posts took a much more interesting direction.

I much prefer channel 7 but I live a short distance from the city limits and cannot get TimeWarner. I have to accept Cable Nebraska from Kearney and channel 7 is not a channel they provide to us for about a year now. I do volunteer work at the hospital and their large scene channels are all tuned into channel 7. I really miss channel 7. Otherwise, for me it's channel 10 or 8 from Lincoln.

I really enjoy the morning local news. When there is nothing intersting on any of the national cable news channels I turn to the local stations to see what specials Kelly's Carpet or Stan Olson Dodge has this week. If I am really lucky I can see if all lanes are open on I-480 southbound.

I watch channel 7 at 10pm. Except I hate that during the weather report Bill Ranby has to stand right in front of Platte county on the map!

I have to agree with Les

The only way for the people who wanted to watch channel 7 again that has been served by Cable Nebraska for cable service is for them to sell the communites they have served in Platte including Duncan and Monroe, Colfax including Richland, and Schuyler, and Bellwood in Butler Countries to Time Warner Cable to see channel 7 again. I don't think Cable Nebraska could either carry channel 7 again or would be willing to carry the Disney nets at all. They only carry channel 6, 15, and 42 in Duncan, Platte Center, and Humphrey for the Omaha channels. I think don't Cable Nebraska has the chance to survive the cable business in this area for long.

Last week at a conference I attended I had a discussion with a number of the TV weather guys and gals about weather coverage for Columbus. I didn't get any promises but they know my opinion. I noticed Channel 3 doesn't even mention Columbus anymore, I guess it's a marketing thing.
