If you go, what is it you like about the games besides maybe having a child involved? If you don't go, did you used to go? What made you stop?
Do you attend high school sports events?

Why Go

Why would I go? So I can listen to the parents yell at each other and dog on other's kids? People need to lighten up--it is ONLY A GAME....NE2TX

Moved from Butler Co. to Texas a year and a half ago. I thot high school football was big in Ne. But not like this. I live near a town called Little Elm, pop. 16,347, their stadium will seat 3,000 with a 2 story glass skybox for coaches, reporters or whatever. It looks like a college teams stadium. The field we played on in high school, was not like this.Wow.SCC Alum

I have a young child and try to take her to as many of Scotus' home events as I can. It is good to cheer for something, my daughter has a great time cheering (the popcorn and suckers don't hurt), and it is a great way to get out of the house and socialize.wxmaster

My wife and I still attend a few football and soccer games even though both of our kids have graduated. It is relatively cheap and you se a lot of friends. Burger bashes are great and I really like seeing the community come out to support the teams and make some noise. The kids work hard and need our support.Grandma

I have to admit we hadn't been to a local game since our kid's graduated from Columbus High. Now, our grandkids are involved. It is alot of fun and we have found again that interest in local sports is very rewarding. The first time I was at Memorial Stadium after all those years I was puzzled for "something" looked so different. I was relieved that I was told the stadium had been changed and it wasn't only my lack of memory. We have a different outlook on the importance of winning but we wish the kids success because they put in a huge effort. However, we now cheer for all 3 Columbus Schools and wish them all great success for their efforts.Hate to

It's good to support youth, but I hate to hear parents and others criticize kids that make mistakes or "underperform" to some fat, loudmouth parent's expectations. It should by about kids having some fun, not about parents' egos. Sometimes it is really sad to hear some of the talk in the stands. My kid should play more because I think I'm somebody, blah, blah.
It should be about kids, not the jerks in the stands.

I would like to know if any of the boys that were involved with the wrestling fiasco are playing football? I think if Dodson is being punished so should the boys that caused this mess. Does anyone know?bash

I might start going back. I enjoyed going to the games when my kids played, but now I think the telegram may be a little bias in its reporting. I also find it rather peculiar that they let people bash Dodson on the blogs, but never Williams. I guess I'll have to go see for myself. What time is the burger bash at the next home game?

YES! Watched CHS Volleyball last night and a high school football game last week. Sometimes you have to move away from fans that are "too involved", but mostly it is enjoyable to see the kids work so hard at something they enjoy. If only the parents would leave the high school sports to the kids and the coaches...simpler times...Big D

I normally make the drive back to Columbus at least once from Omaha to see a home wrestling dual or if I can't I catch a tournament in Omaha. This year I may not be just because I think Coach Dodson was unfairly punished. I have nothing against Benson. He's a great coach and really cared about the team. I had him as a head coach myself. But, I believe Dodson was unfairly punished for something he had little control over. I'd encourage the team to show their support for him being reinstated as a coach as well...westerner

my daughter is now in JH volleyball and it's exciting to watch her play. We also go to the varsity VB, FB and BB games. husband is a deputy and it's great for him to relate with the kids. We are now in a community of 800.
The burger bashes are a great way to see people. I love HS sports!
Hope we don't have the hassles here like Columbus has had with Wrestling however.
