If you lost your job ...

What would you do? Are you prepared to tough it out for a while? Resume ready? Would you move? Retire? Struggle through on unemployment? Other strategy?

Someone buy my house. All I want for it, is what I have invested in it back. Will solve my funding problems/worries for starting my own place somewhere else. Hurry now, Have great opportunity for house for sale in Iowa where I want to move that I don't want to let pass by.. I don't want my wife stranded at Camaco and living in a strip mall town. That's 220 jobs less that ain't coming back. 220 less that the manufacturing sector of Columbus has the burden of supporting the retail sector on. I'm serious about my house, I really am willing to sell it if anybody is in the market.

I would move.

NPPD, Behlen, EGS, Katana, and probably several others all fallen on hard times, I wouldn't even waste time looking for a job here if I lost my present one.

...get my tail in gear and go find another one, even if it meant making a little less than what I did before. What I wouldn't do, however, is take the path the millions of laid off people with no sense of self or reality are doing, and that's collecting unemployment simply because they can't find another job that makes as much as they did before.

Guess what, people??? This credit based standard of living that gave far too many people for far too long the illusion of living like wealthy people IS OVER!!!!!!!!! I don't think people understand that. From now on, if you want to be wealthy, you earn it...you don't live a life leveraged 35 to 1 and barely pay finance charges so you can drive a Hummer and live in a $400,000 house.

The sooner all you fools realize that, the better we'll be.

get out of town

I work at EGS...so I did lose my job! I have only one choice and that is get out of town! When I have to compete with 200 other people for jobs in this town, I have no choice. I have nothing against Wal-mart- but their wages will not support a family of 5!

I don't need a job because I have SocSec and a pension. Thank God. But everyone pays into unemployment insurance, so why are people looking at it as a handout? Anyway, most of the people in this town are Christian, and people are supposed to help one another. Everyone paying taxes does that. Its not "charity" like our parents hated.

I would start my own late night taxi service in Columbus. With all the drunks in this town that drive, I would find a large truck and charge $5-$8 per head for a safe ride home. It would probably not work, since it seems most people are alright with driving intoxicated, but it would be worth a shot.
