MarBon Hubbard
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- MarBon Hubbard, born Margaret Leticia Speice in Columbus, daughter of Boardman (Bont) Speice and Margaret Speice, died in her sleep under a nearly full moon over San Diego, Calif.
MarBon Hubbard April 30, 1930 - June 3, 2009.
Her marriage to George M. Reid produced two children, George Reid, Jr. (Gene) and Margo Reid who spent their early years in Omaha and Cheyenne, Wyo.
MarBon fed her spirit by meeting new people and sharing stories. She dedicated herself to family and her many communities. She parlayed her broad interests into a variety of jobs including her own radio show in Cheyenne, “MarBon at Home,” interviewing Princess Blue Water, and then-Senator Mike Mansfield. She followed her interest in politics through the League of Women Vipers, as she called it. Upon her divorce, she moved to the Washington, DC area and married William T. Brack. She worked at U.S. News and World Report, managing pension and profit sharing . Widowed in 1975, MarBon moved to the San Diego area where she married Bob Pomeroy. In the arid landscapes of the west, she fell in love with its natural history. Widowed again, MarBon was married to Bob Hubbard until his death.
MarBon spent several decades in the San Diego area and devoted herself to volunteer work in Balboa Park at the Visitors Center, the San Diego Museum of Man, the San Diego Natural History Museum and The Old Globe where she cultivated ever more friends.
She is survived by her two children, Gene of Escondido, Calif.; and Margo of Bethesda, Md.; her four grandchildren; and her brothers, Charles and Byron Speice.
