SCHUYLER -- Julius E. “Joe” Pelan, 65, died Friday at his home in Schuyler. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, July 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish St. Mary’s Catholic Church Schuyler, with the Rev. Gerald Leise, officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from noon-8 p.m. A wake service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Parish and Knights of Columbus Kracl Funeral Chapel
Committal at Schuyler Cemetery. Memorials Lunch at St,. Mary’s Social Center.
Joe died Friday at his home in Schuyler surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born Aug. 1, 1943, in David City to Ben and Agnes (Stava) Pelan.
He attended school in David City and graduated from David City High School. On Sept. 16, 1967, he married Eleanor Codr at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill. They lived in Schuyler and Joe farmed and worked in electrical maintenance for Cargill for over 41 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Schuyler Eagle’s Club and served in the National Guard from 1964-1970.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eleanor of Schuyler, two sons; Doug (Lisa) Pelan of Lincoln, Jeff (Vicki) Pelan of Elkhorn, three grandchildren, Dylan, Jessica and Tanner, sister, Evelyn (Don) Goodman of Omaha, brother, Emanuel Pelan of David City and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Junior Pelan. Condolences to www.revbluejeans.com.
