COLUMBUS — Area residents began parking their cars in the north lot at Platte County Agricultural Park as early as Wednesday for a good view of the annual Columbus Jaycees’ fireworks display Friday evening.

According to Ag park Manager Bill Lusche, an average of more than 5,000 area residents are on the grounds each year for the display.

Despite knowing EXACTLY who's at fault, I won't name names, but when we left Ag Park's lot in our car after the fireworks, we did not put anything into the donation bucket that this particular Jaycee was holding. Despite our windows being rolled up, we still heard her not-so-sincere (snide) comment about hoping we enjoyed it (read: without having donated).

Miss KRL, I know it's hard for you, but THINK before you speak. We spent over $100 at the Jaycees' firework stand this year, whose profits are supposed to go toward this event.

I watched the Columbus Jaycees fireworks display on Friday night.

Then I went to watch the Big Bang Boom display on the 4th at Skyview lake. Wow, what a difference.
