Is baseball America's game? How much do you watch or go to games? If baseball isn't your favorite sport, what is and why?

Ya it was the pastime. Now in 2009 I could really care less about it. By far my favorite sport is college football followed close by college basketball. Not much into the pro sports at all.

Who cares about todays "steriodball," what a great example they teaching todays kids . It's a joke and most of todays "athletes" couldn't hold the jocks of yesterdays REAL ballplayers, ie, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron to name a few. I'd rather watch soccer than todays baseball!

They should split the leauge up: one will be drug free and the other will be druged. Then for the world series have the best teams from each play each other. You get the idea.

The bottom line is that IT IS AMERICA'S PASTIME AND IT ALWAYS WILL BE! Every sport goes through peaks and valleys. Do not necessarily put the blame on player but rather Bud Selig. He knew about steroids for a long time. If he would of squashed the steroids right away then it would of not got to this point. Look at the NFL. Goodell has changed everything around and is nipping things in the butt so it does not get bad. That is what MLB needs to have happen. If you have ever attended a MLB game then you will know that it is Americas Pastime. If you have not then you necessarily do not know what the total experience is like. Going to a college game, farmteam, or other may have some similarites but it does not capture the whole experience. The smells that encompass a ballpark is never going to be compared. Long live baseball and BE PROUD TO KNOW THAT OUR FATHERS IN THIS COUNTRY INVENTED A SPORT THAT IS A WORLDWIDE PROUD EVENT!!
Give me a break.

WHy is it America's pastime? Because it's in the summer and the fam can go to the park and enjoy a $7 hot dog and a $9 beer? To watch a bunch of steroid users?

It's the NFL, my friend. They still break you on the food and beer, but at least the games are entertaining.

It's definitely NOT baseball - I would say it's college football or professional soccer. Those sports actually have some action to them.

How do you figure soccer. ESPN and all other sports fan and analysts state that soccer is not even in the same city in terms of "America's Pastime!"

It certainly is a pass time, and a lot of it. The games are too long, with very little action. I know very few people who care about it.

MMA and UFC is on a roll. They may pass up everyone someday.

Baseball is no longer America's pastime. Its so obvious to anyone over 50 years old, if you compare things today with the 1960's from youth involvment, through local support of town team baseball, all the way to the Big Leagues.

Kids don't go out and play ball all summer from sun up to sun down like they use to. They're interested in other things.

Town-team baseball was huge until television provided families with another entertainment option.

Major League Baseball's role in America's pastime has been tarnished and diminished over the past 40 years, starting with the end of the reserve clause in the 60's, strike-shortened seasons, greedy owners and players, performance enhancing drugs. This, when combined with sky rocketing ticket and concession prices, all contribute to fan dissatisfaction and disconnection.

I don't think America has a pastime anymore and really...its too bad.

I thought America's pastime was drinking beer with other losers at some brothel/bar and growing pot in your basement.
