COLUMBUS -- The 26th Avenue railroad crossing will close July 8 and is scheduled to remain closed for about three weeks as part of Union Pacific Railroad track and crossing improvements.

According to a Union Pacific spokesman, the closure is scheduled to occur at 7 a.m. so drivers can plan accordingly.

The only downtown crossing that will be open during the construction is the 23rd Avenue crossing.

According to a press release issued by the City of Columbus Wednesday, motorists are encouraged to use the open crossings at 18th Avenue and 21st Avenue in addition to the 23rd Avenue crossing.
