West Park students sing on DVD for troops

COLUMBUS -- Soldiers will get a warm holiday greeting by some Columbus elementary students this Christmas. Students at West Park Elementary created a DVD video featuring all students in grades K-5, which is being sent to soldiers serving overseas. The video was a service project sponsored by the school’s student council.

Adviser Danielle Wacha said the council decided to do the project after hearing that Columbus Physical Therapy was collecting items to send to those serving in the military for Christmas.

The DVD features students singing four holiday songs. Wacha said four DVD’s were burned and each will be sent out with the 13 boxes of supplies students collected.

Students delivered the items to Columbus Physical Therapy last week. The business will be shipping out the supplies it has collected from the school and the community.

Wacha said the project was a good experience for the students to learn about giving, especially around the holidays.
