The convoy is crossing the United States to commemorate the 1919 U.S. Transcontinental Motor Convoy and is retracing the original route along the Lincoln Highway as closely as possible.
The Columbus route will consist of U.S. Highway 30 and 23rd Street to 23rd Avenue, turning south to Eighth Street and west to 33rd Avenue where it will continue south on its way to Grand Island.

Any idea as to what time this is going to happen? It might be something fun to have daycare kids watch go through town.Bud

In 1919 the Transcontinental Highway, better known as the Lincoln Highway and Hwy 30, crossed the UP Railroad Tracks at 41st Ave and about 11th St. It went straight South across the Loup River just west of the Country Club, now Van Berg's Golf Course. Of course that crossing is now closed because of the long waiting times for Coal and Water Refills, and the route change to the old 33 ave viaduct.
