Corn and Soybean Expo this month in Albion

The Corn and Soybean Expo will be Dec. 15 in the Casey’s Community Building located at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Albion.

“Growing Corn and Soybeans to Fuel Nebraska” will start with 9 a.m. registration and conclude at 3 p.m. Steve Pritchard, UNL Extension Educator, will be the host.

Topics and presenters of the 2008 Corn and Soybean Expos include:

Crop Systems Decisions - Steve Pritchard, UNL Extension Educator; Equipment and Residue Considerations - Paul Jasa, UNL Extension Engineer; Cellulose to Fuel: How Much Can I Remove? - Robert Klein, Western Nebraska Crops Specialist; Growing Crops for Better Biodiesel - Loren Isom, Industrial Agricultural Products Center Coordinator; What Does Industry Want in Our Grain for Better Ethanol? - Robert Racek, Cargill; 2009 Corn/Soybean Production Costs “ Klein; Recognizing and Managing Corn/Soybean Diseases - Jennifer Rees, UNL, Extension Educator; Water Management to Conserve Energy and Water - Aaron Nygren, UNL Extension Educator; and Evaluating Cropping Systems - Pritchard

University of Nebraska Extension’s corn and soybean expos are planned for five locations across the state. Early registration for the workshop is $5 if paid by Dec. 10. Registration at the door is $15. Registration fee includes noon lunch and proceedings.

CCA credits in crop management, soil and water and pest management are available upon request.
