COLUMBUS â” Status reports and updates on preparations being made for the 2009-10 school year are the focus of agenda items for the Lakeview Community Schools Board of Education meeting Monday.
The school board is scheduled to meet 8 p.m. Monday at Lakeview High School. The change to the 8 p.m. meeting time is due to the end of daylight savings time.
According to the agenda, the board is expected to review and take action on the districtâs annual audit report and multicultural report.
Superintendent Paul Calvert said the multicultural report is a routine report given to the board and details the multicultural lessons that are taught as part of the schoolsâ curriculum.
âThis is something we approve every year in November. It is a formality,â Calvert said. âWe report to the board the continuing effort to do multicultural lessons in the curriculum.â
The multicultural lessons and the report is part of the stateâs education requirements for each district, he said.
The board also is expected to receive and update on the progress of the temporary solution to be implemented for the 2009-10 school year, due to issue of overcrowding at Shell Creek Elementary School and the relocation of Sunrise Elementary School students.
âWe will talk a little bit more about classrooms, where the junior high classrooms will be located at the high school,â Calvert said, as well as discussion on the consideration to move the Platte Center Elementary Schoolâs principal office and secretary office closer to the front door.
âIt appears to be a pretty boring agenda,â Calvert said.
The board also is expected to hear reports from the curriculum/technology committee, building and grounds committee and transportation committee, in addition to holding an executive session regarding the superintendentâs evaluation.
