St. Luke’s starting Coffee House for local talent By Eric Freeman efreeman@columbustelegram.comCOLUMBUS -- Calling all singers, writers of songs, tellers of tales, improvisational actors and comedians. St. Luke’s United Church of Christ is launching a new Coffee House program from 8-10 p.m. Friday and 8-10 p.m. the first and third Fridays of each month thereafter. The Coffee House hopes to offer young adults, ages 18-29, a place to gather and enjoy one another’s talents and a variety of activities. Refreshments will include coffee, tea, soda, hot chocolate and pastries. “We’ll be providing a place for young adults to come and listen to Christian music, enjoy karaoke, games and a gentle Christian message,” said Pastor Hal Garlick. “The goal is to offer a different option for young adults looking for something to do.” Garlick said baby-sitters will be provided for each two-hour meeting and volunteers are need to help make the new program a success. “We need baby-sitters, counter help, bakers and more to set up and help provide this service,” Garlick said. “We need to provide entertainment with a Christian theme.” Area residents interested in helping out or bringing a talent or entertainment program are asked to call Pastor Hal or Pastor Connie at the church at 564-8862. |
