Energy fest at square Tuesday

COLUMBUS -- The sixth annual Energy Fest, hosted by Loup Power District, Cornhusker Public Power District and Nebraska Public Power District, will be held at Frankfort Square from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Activities will include: bucket truck rides, electrical safety demonstrations, P-O-W-E-R bingo, energy wheel game and more. Louie the Lightning Bug will welcome the public and provide electrical safety messages. Lakeview’s Power Drive team will display their alternative fuel, battery-operated car and answer questions about the Power Drive program. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served

Along with displays about public power, there will be energy efficiency displays and Compact Fluorescent Lamps, (CFLs).

A new wind energy display will be featured this year with an opportunity to learn more about this energy source.

Cornhusker Power serves the Columbus east industrial area and the rural portions of Platte, Boone, Colfax, Nance, Greeley and Wheeler counties. Loup Power District serves Columbus and over 20 communities in the counties of Boone, Colfax, Nance, Platte, and a portion of Madison.

NPPD helps serve an estimated 800,000 Nebraskans with retail and wholesale electric power and energy-related products and services.
