Columbus Garden Tour set for today
COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Garden Tour will be from noon-5 p.m. today.
Five yards and gardens in the Columbus area will be featured on the tour. The purpose of the garden tour is to provide homeowners with diverse garden and landscape ideas.
Tickets for the tour are available at Earl Mays Garden Center, Wilke’s Nursery and Landscape Center, the UNL Extension office in Platte County, and from Master Gardener volunteers. Tickets are $5 each, and featured gardens are listed on each ticket.

Meridian Gardens tours slated today
COLUMBUS -- Tours of the Chateaus of Meridian Gardens at the summer in Paris Open House, celebrating its second anniversary, will be available from 2-4 p.m. today.
A tour of the Assisted Living apartments and complimentary French pastries and beverages also will be available.
Bags will be checked at the door, and participants should ask about the French Move-In special.
Daze Flea Market deadline Monday
BELLWOOD -- The Bellwood Daze Flea Market and Craft Sale is planned for Aug. 1-3 at the old Firehouse.
There is still room for vendors who wish to sell. Deadline for reserving a booth is Monday.
The flea market and craft sale will run from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 1; from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Aug. 2; and from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 3. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

Sports injuries workshop Monday
LINDSAY -- The Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop on “Sports Injuries” for emergency medical technicians and first responders.
The workshop will be held from 7-10 p.m. Monday at the Lindsay Fire Hall, 2nd and Pine Street. This workshop is worth three continuing education hours.

Christian woman’s club luncheon set
COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Christian Woman’s Club will welcome speaker Kelley Lane of Wichita, Kan., at a luncheon 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion Club, 2263 Third Ave.
Lane will speak on the topic of “living in a rut and loving it.” The program also includes musical selections by Megan Behlen and a flag demonstration by Jean Chestnut.
Cost is $8 and reservations are due July 22 by calling Barb at 564-0616 or Dorothy at 564-4036. Nursery is available for young children with reservation. Those attending are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.
Christian Preschool applications taken
COLUMBUS -- Columbus Christian Preschool is currently accepting applications for the 2008-09 school year.
Two-day (Monday and Wednesday) and three-day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) morning classes are available for children ages 4-5 years old.
Columbus Christian Preschool provides an academic program that encourages children to use the Bible to evaluate all of life through the eyes of God because God is Truth.
