PLATTE CENTER -- If you’ve ever felt like you needed a guide to help you accomplish a goal, life coaching might be for you.

Carde Coaching, a new business opened by Lori Carde of Platte Center, is focusing on doing just that.

Life coaching, Carde said, is a rapidly growing profession that centers on motivating clients to achieve their goals.

“It’s very different than counseling,” Carde said. “Life coaching deals with the present time forward. It is positive and focuses on the future instead of the past.”

The process used to guide a client through their coaching includes discovering what their goals are and comparing those goals to their own priorities and values, Carde said.

The goals can be long or short term, multiple or ongoing. Carde specializes in many different areas, such as personal growth, relationships, career planning, finances, stress management, time management, health, leisure, spirituality and small business development.

Carde is a master level certified life coach and has a bachelors degree in sociology from Wayne State College. She was first exposed to life coaching as a student taking an elective life-coaching class from Bellevue University. She enjoyed the class so much she went on to earn her certification in it.

Her coaching is offered by telephone, which she said is just as effective as meeting face to face.

“Telecoaching,” which is what Carde calls it, is more convenient for the clients because it allows them to be coached at home or any other location.

Carde said she is focusing on life coaching and will continue to do so even after she received her masters degree in mental health counseling in January.

Coaching sessions usually last 30-60 minutes and can be as frequent as 2-4 times per month. The duration of the sessions depends on each client, Carde said.

Carde, who is a native of Columbus, has coached a handful of individuals so far and said it is a rewarding experience to help empower people to reach their goals and lead a more fulfilling life.

Carde offers specials for new clients. For more information visit www.frontiernet.net/~cardecoaching, call (402) 246-4076 or e-mail at cardecoaching@frontiernet.net.
