I couldn't wait to get out of the house. My party was boring- just a bunch of my parents' friends. Hung out with my friends and drank (Oops- we were not old enough.) I enjoyed most of my time in High school- but now has my own children are in school- I am glad I am not!kevx

Marwie, Good message to send to the the graduating class of 2008. If you're bored, go out and drink. Classy--Marwie

To Good Message- Get over it... I was not sending the class of 2008 any message. I was recalling MY memory of MY graduation. You are reading WAYYYYY to much into it. What about Robby- he stated he had a hangover- why not chastize him as well for drinking (that is what caused hangovers)Have a nice day.....
dont drink and drive

To Good Message- why are you harrassing only Marwie? The other two posters also noted alcohol. I would like to believe (even though I have no idea who these people are) that they are not trying to portray a wrong message to the graduating class- they were just doing what the topic asked them to do- and that is to remember their graduation party. I remember mine fondly- it was only 20 years ago. My family had a nice gathering of friends and family- and there WAS ALOCOHOL present. I was NOT allowed to drink- even though I did after I left my reception.I think you should just leave them alone and let them remember their graduation. I now attend the receptions of others and there is alocohol present. No you do not need to have alochol to have a good time- that has been beat to death. I am a firm believer of learning by example. My own children see both myself and my husband drink and our friends- and they see that we do it responsibly and we ALWAYS drive home a friend that has just had too many. You are preaching to the wrong crowd here it looks like.

I was allowed to drink at my party and did it responsible and didn't leave my place, I don't think I got drunk, just socialized. To Good Message, your attitude is whats wrong w/ the message sent to teenagers! Keep your head in the sand.....been working for you so far hasn't it? Forest Gump

Gee, guess I hit a nerve with my comment. Okay to be fair to everyone and not pick on one individual, good message all of you to send to the class of 2008. Now for the real reason I feel this way. Have you ever had a sister killed by a drunk teenager a week before graduation? I have, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody to have to live through ever. So, if I have a chip on my shoulder, so be it. I just don't understand the need for underage teenagers to have to celebrate a major accomplishment in their lives by going out and drinking. As for keeping my head in the sand, I've spoken to high school students, I've spoken to college students, I've spoken to AA groups--so if thats keeping my head in the sand tell me some other groups to talk to and I will. Sorry-thats the way I feel about it and you can all continue to rip on me all you want. Just remember Carrie 1978.SCC Graduate

I remember when our principal mr. morefeld his chair tipped off the bag of the stage during graduation. i think that is the best thing that happened at graduation :) it was hillarious and i'm glad we all got a good laugh out of it and he wasn't hurt. Marwie

To Good Message: Sorry to hear about your sister. I can't tell you that I know what you are going through- but I guess I am on the opposite side of the fence. I have a brother that abuses alocohol. Lost his license several times- cannot keep a job, or a wife, and his health is just plain awful. I like the comment that Dont drink and drink said about learning by example. My teenagers see the way that alcohol has ruined their uncle's life and in no way want to end up like him. I have beer in our fridge and I drink it openly in fron of them.Yes underage drinking is against the law- and I in no way would allow it. But if a parent feels that their child is responsible enough then I guess that there is really nothing that we can do- they know the laws as well
as we do. And by the way- we are getting wayyyy off the topic here!!!

My favorite memory is knowing that I was done living in a town that had such a poor opinion of their youth. I think the town has produced many bright minds regardless of all the negativity. Hopefully, some of them stay their to bring change to a town that needs it! Agree with Tim

I was glad to leave. My best memory of graduation is that this was the last time any of them were big fish. The big shots all turned up at reunions bald, fat and usually with some sort of record! To slaa

Here we go again with the people so happy to be out of columbus, but yet still are so interested with whats going on around here.born here left here
May 20, 2008 12:42 PM
Hey CH - Columbus is a nice place to come and visit once or twice a year, but if I did not have family there, I would not miss it or revisit it ever again. I keep up on "stuff" because I do know people who still live in Columbus and the surrounding area. That certainly does NOT mean I want to live there again, but it also does not mean that I will never live there again. Things are not always black and white. I am happy with things, why aren't you? par-tay

(born here left here -I am happy with things, why aren't you?)I am happy here
I just get tired of hearing people say " Im sure happy I dont live in columbus anymore la la de la da" I have family all over the country, I could really care less about whats going on in their community. But if your greatest graduation memories are that of leaving a city, well I guess.
