Howells 2nd at Wisner

WISNER -- The Howells boys track team came in second at the C-5 district track meet Thursday.

Clarkson was fourth with 52 points, as Wisner-Pilger won the meet on the boys side with a 164.

Oakland-Craig won the girls side with 113 points, as Howells scored 46.33 for sixth place, and Clarkson finished seventh with 19.

Tyler Gooch led the Bobcats with four wins on the day, in the high jump, 100-meter run, 200 and as part of the 400 relay. Jeff Pokorny won two events, taking the shot put and discus, while Bryan Mejstrik won the 3,200 and finished third in the 800.

Corbin Hamernik took the silver in both the 110 and 300 hurdles, and Cassius McClintic took third in the 110 hurdles. The Red Devils finished fourth in the 400 and 1,600 relays, and fifth in the 3,200 relay.

On the girls side, Tiffany Brabec won the discus for Clarkson, just beating out Howells’ Mindi Schlautman. Tara Indra finished second in the long jump, and Kelsey Pokorny in the shot put for the Bobcats. Howells also took fifth in the 400 relay.
