buy one so you can till your own garden whenever you want. that way you dont have to wait for someone else to get done with theirs first. or if you wanted to expand your garden you wouldn't have to search around for some one to do it again. just a thought buy one or don't buy one i personally would want my own if i was going to plant a garden every year.HELP PLEASE

We started pretty early this year and had to cover plants many times! Trying to work with my wife on landscaping and garden put through out the back yard, as long as it does not look to hick. Tomatoes, peppers, corn, cabbage, eggplant, peas, beans, strawberries, broccli, carrots, pumpkin planted so far. We are also waiting to get fruit off our cherry, plum, and peach trees. My wife plans on canning as much as possible.JK

Plant "Victory Gardens" as our grandparents did during the WWII era. It makes more sense than paying big bucks for food that was grown 2,000 miles away.SuzQ

My boyfriend's dad and his neighbors plant a garden every year. He spends hours planning his garden and many more hours maintaining it. He has the usual invaders birds, rabbits, etc. But the biggest invaders are our 95 lb. labs, Brutus & Bailey. They make a bee line to the garden everytime they get to run around and take the tomatoes right off the vines. They even eat the turnips. But that is ok, I will gladly give them my share. I have tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, cantelope, raddishes, carrots & peas. I don't really have much of my tomatoe plants left, the rabbits are really eating them up this year. Anybody have any ideas on how to keep them out of my garden?!Shot Em Up

Shot the rabbits. Or trap the Rabbits or put up a fence or buy rabbit repellent or get a dog.Bruce Proctor

Up here in NW Washington the ground isso full of rocks that in order to have
a garden it is necessary to build an
above ground garden, so the garden will
have to be limited in size. I do plant
tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, yellow
squash, radishes, cabbage, cucumbers,
turnips, carrots, onions and brussel
sprouts. Trying to find a place for
ear corn!!

I'm going to rent a tiller as soon as the soil dries out a bit. Once tilled, I'll plant several varieties of tomatoes, so as to increase the likelihood that one of the varieties will produce and be resistant to blight and other variables. I'll also plant lettuce, beets, beans, and cucumbers. Last year my green peppers did not do well, but I'll try again this year. Egg plant did really well last year and I'll plant a couple of them. If you know how to cook egg plant, it's well worth planting them! It's all going in late this year due to the moisture in the ground! Any good environmentalist ought to put in an organic garden...the price of food is sky rocketing.phreakwars

OK, got ahold of a tiller (forgot my uncle Al has one). Gonna till out the yard this afternoon. Gonna plant some tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, watermelon, & cantelope for sure. Might do some peas and sweet corn as well, can't remember right off hand which plants my wife bought. And if I remember, I'll try to add carrots into the mix. I guess now would be a good time to look into some fencing for the garden to keep out the rabbits. How high is high enough..ANYONE?Love to Garden

Re: Rabbits in the garden. Plant Marigolds. I'm not crazy, it works. I plant marigolds around my carrots, broccli, lettuce, etc. They don't like the smell and stay away. I've seen some people that just plant them around the pereimenter, but I just put one plant on the end of each row and also in the center of the rows that rabbit's like. I've done it for 5 years.
