Brian Boye Sr.
STROMSBURG -- Brian “Radar” Lee Boye, Sr., 59, of Stromsburg, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at his home.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Dick Woolard officiating. Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Military Rites by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132.
Brian was born June 23, 1948, to Fred Rudolph and Bernadine Marie (Mattson) Boye, Sr. in Milbank, S.D. He attended elementary school in Willmar, Minn. and attended high school in Stromsburg, graduating in 1966.
Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a medical corpsman from 1966 to 1972. He then continued his service with the National Guard.
During his enlistment in the service Brian received several military medals including the National Defense Medal, Marksman Rifle, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service and two Overseas Service Bars.
Brian was united in marriage, and to this union two children were born. They lived in the Gresham area where Brian assisted people with their taxes.
Brian moved to Stromsburg where he was employed with the City of Stromsburg.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed guns, playing cards with the guys at the Legion and his country.
Survivors include his children Brian Lee (Jodie) Boye Jr., of Lee Summit, Mo. and DVM Corry (Justin) Key of Vanburen, Ark.; three grandchildren Riley Boye, Jackson Boye and Noah Key; four brothers, Larry (Glenda) Boye of Stevensville, Mont., Lance (Deb) Boye of Lincoln, Brett (Patti) Boye of Duncan, Fred Boye Jr. of Ashland; three sisters Toni Shipley of Hamilton, Mont., Lynette (Tom) McKinnon of Chuquak, Ark., and Kim Schaefer of Columbus; one half brother Robert (Shirley) Boye of Overland Park, Ill.; twenty-eight nieces and nephews, sixteen great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Bernadine Boye, Sr.; five half brothers, and one half sister.
Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of arrangements.
