John Rohde John Rohde COLUMBUS -- John W. Rohde, 77, of Columbus, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Ord. Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim White officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home, 2109 14th St., and on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. John W. Rohde was born January 30, 1931, in Columbus, to Dr. Frank G. and Verona (Wischover) Harrer Rohde. John attended Columbus Public School and graduated from Kramer High School in 1949. John entered the U.S. Air Force on January 3, 1951. He made the Air Force his career and was stationed in Texas, California, Kansas, South Carolina, New Hampshire, England, Okinawa, Korea, Libya, Thailand, Norway, and Turkey. He was honorably discharged and retired from the Air Force on August 31, 1976. In December of 1952, John married Fern Stevenson in Columbus. He attended the University of Nebraska, Platte College, and graduated from Wayne State College in 1987. John was a salesman for Person Sport Shop and Business Manager at Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the church council and the Endowment Trust Board. John is survived by his wife, Fern Rohde; sons: Mark (Zena) Rohde, Steven Rohde; daughter: Anne (Lonny) Clausen; grandchildren: B. J. (Nancy) Rohde, Jennifer, Naomi, and Nolan Clausen; great-grandchildren, Zach and Addyson Rohde; and brother, Frank (Cookie) Rohde. John was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank and Verona Rohde and infant sister, Margaret Ann Rohde. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
