Springs, Sprouts meets Thursday

COLUMBUS -- The Sprigs and Sprouts Garden Club will meet at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the home of Alta Walters.

Destination teams fundraiser set

COLUMBUS -- Wendy’s Restaurant, 3018 23rd St., will be hosting a fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. Thursday for the Columbus High School Destination Imagination teams.

The restaurant will donate 10 percent of its profits from this event to the Columbus High School Destination Imagination teams to help raise money for their trip to the 2008 Global Finals.

All dine-in and carry-out sales during the fundraiser will apply.

Sandbag, leader training Thursday

COLUMBUS -- The Columbus/Platte County Emergency Management Agency will conduct sandbag and group-leader training from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at 3010 10th St. (1 block east of the viaduct).

This training will allow volunteers to prepare to be group leaders and provide just-in-time training for additional volunteers if a sandbagging need were to arise. For more information, call 564-1206 or e-mail pcem@megavision.com.

‘Waffleman’ in David City Thursday

DAVID CITY -- The David City band is holding a fundraising event with “The Waffleman” as its special guest from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at David City High School.

Cost is $5 per person with ages 4 and under eating free. Meal includes Belgian waffles with flavored syrups and whipped cream, sausage and drinks.

Music will be provided. Proceeds from this event will go to support the David City band activities.

Archaeological meeting Saturday

YORK -- The Nebraska Archaeological Society (NAS) will hold a quarterly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Anna Palmer Museum, 211 East Seventh St. in York.

All interested persons are welcomed to attend and are invited to bring artifacts for identification or display.

The short business meeting will be followed by a guest speaker.
