DAVID CITY — Butler County Attorney Julie Reiter is ready to charge five female suspects involved in a high-speed chase Jan. 3.
Reiter said Thursday that 20-year-old Glenda L. Dubon of Schuyler will face six felony and misdemeanor charges, including assault of an officer.
A 16-year-old David City juvenile, identified as the driver of the vehicle that ended up in a ditch along Nebraska Highway 92 near Garrison shortly after 3 p.m., will face 11 charges, including willful reckless driving.
Butler County Sheriff Mark Hecker and Deputy Bill Drozd, part of an arrest team that also involved officers from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, were allegedly assaulted as the vehicle’s occupants were taken into custody.
Hecker later described their injuries as scratches and bumps.
Two more 16-year-old girls, from Columbus and Schuyler, and a 12-year-old girl from Schuyler were also in the fleeing vehicle, according to police reports.
All of the juveniles are scheduled to make their first court appearance today in front of Seward County Judge Gerald Rouse, who will be on a fill-in assignment at the Butler County Courthouse in David City.
Reiter said the other three juveniles will each be charged with one misdemeanor count of obstructing a police officer.
No court date had been set for Dubon as of Thursday.
Police reports of the incident said the chase began in Columbus, where at least one police car was rammed, and proceeded south on U.S. Highway 81 into Butler County.
The car was reported as stolen, and two of the girls were listed as runaways.
Five females involved in chase will be charged

I hope these girls are severely punished now, so they will not do worse later. They could have killed our husbands and fathers who are the policemen chasing them. They had no care for those who pursued them. Platte?

Where are these girls parents? Parents need to take responsibility for their children. They need to get involved with your children. Plan activities with them and do something as a family. Know where your children are and who they are with. Cry Cry

If someone is so worried about their husbands and fathers as policeman being possibly killed chasing them, then they should have there husbands and fathers seek different ocupations. The risk goes with the job.x

What kind of comment is that Cry Cry?? Youre going to harass the people that go out there daily and give everything to protect our community...I would like to see you out there giving it a try if you think it means nothing!yikes

cry cry, your statement says many words that you don't even have to say. Stupidy being the first that comes to mind. I can't believe that you would ay something like that. These are the people that are trying to keep us and our children safe and some people like yourself think this way. Let's look back at the article of the man spitting on the face of a col. police officer. Remeber this; you don't have to actually pucker up to spit on someone. Answer to X

parent of 3 I was just wondering how it always comes back to the parents somehow. I have seen some of the best parents wind up havin kids that get into trouble. So lets quit blaming the parents all the time these girls are plenty old enough to know what they are doing and if I'm not mistaken one of the girls is 20 she probably don't even live at home.If you were ever in trouble would it have been your parents fault? And as far as you people talking trash about the risks law enforcement take and them choosing a different career who do you spose would clean up after all the trash out there, cause you sure the heck aren't.And another thing what if it were your child in the car I bet you would want the law enforcement to take some kind of risk to assure you they are safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Angela

All i have to say is they are going in front of Judge Rouse and he will NOT cut these girls a break, if anyone remembers this man when he served as a Judge here knows just what i am talking about! So that is good news anyway! To most of you....PLEASE..learn some grammar! My goodness, the way you are spelling and not punctuating, made it hard to read your posts and understand what you are trying to say, for example, if your trying to say you know something it is spelled "know" not "no", just a pet peeve of mine!! Yes, some parents to some level should look at what they did wrong..wouldn't any parent?? Sad to say but some don't and never will..some people just don't deserve to have children and that is a general statement..not necessarily directed to the parents of these idiot girls!gk

This would have made great video, and where were girls like this when I was a teenager! kitty

Angela-How can you say some people don't deserve to have children? If it's God's will and the parents are relatively healthy, who are you to judge their ability to raise children? On the spelling and proper grammar--I have to agree with you. It is sometimes very difficult to figure out what the poster is trying to say. And the spelling is atrocious. Did those people graduate high school? When will they be perfect like us? Don't everybody have a cat. Just kidding. CC

Responding to the comment from "cry cry." Ok, we all know now that you do not like the Police/Sheriff's Deputies.
The next time you're in trouble, call a crack head!
just me

i have to agree on some people do not deserve kids but nothing on this case cause we do not know all the facts and do not have the right to judge and put in our assumptions ...i hope these kids get the right help and get on the right path and can get their lives going and hope this is just a stepping stone . Everything happens for a reason and we figure it out in His time..not ours...so hopefully all will work out and they will learn from this terrible situation and learn a lessonWOW

In regards to Cry Cry, the statement you made is a perfect example of what is wrong with society today. Are you honestly saying that these girls should not be held accountable for placing these officers in danger not to mention the public that they also endangered? If we don't make them accountable who is to say that what they do in the future won't affect you. Also to say that these officers should just accept that this is part of their job is ludicrous! Of course they know what the risks are with the job but that does not mean that they do not have the right to be concerned nor do their families have the right to be concerned. Cry Cry, you should be ashamed to even suggest that law enforcement officials should just take it in stride that this is part of their job. Your statement obviously means they should not have to be accountable. Your statement only shows ignorance and a lack of understanding of what is going on in your very own community. Jake

To Parent of 3, lets hope that comment doesn't come back to bite you in the butt. You can raise them right and they are still going to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. I always love it when someone says "My kid wouldn't", cuz it always comes back, and I am the first one there to remind them what they said...Also a parent of three

Ah, to live in a perfect world such as the original parent of three. You better come back to the realty of this world. You can raise your kids to the best of your ability and teach them right from wrong, but there is always peer pressure. Your child(ren) may know right from wrong, but they are going to make decisions that you may not agree with. If you say that you never went against your parents wishes then not only are a perfect parent then you were also a perfect child. My parents raised me the best they knew how but I can honestly say that my halo had been tarnished a few times. You can only hope that you teach your child right from wrong and that they make the best decisions in thier life. These girls were not only endangering their lives; but many other lives. They are lucky they did not kill someone. They need to understand what they did was so wrong. The twenty year old should have known better but apparently she did not.
