Lincoln - The University of Nebraska Ticket Office announced single-match volleyball tickets for the 2007 season will go on sale at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Single-match ticket prices for the upcoming season are set at $16 (floor and limited view seats), $10 (adult general admission) and $8 (youth/seniors general admission). Fans are limited to two tickets per regular-season home match at the NU Coliseum.
Tickets can be purchased on the Internet at Huskers.com, in person at the Athletic Ticket Office, located across the street from Memorial Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. or by calling (800) 8-BIGRED. Ticket Office hours are from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Tickets for the annual Rec/White scrimmage Saturday are on sale now.
Nebraska Red grab pair of wins
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Bison-Nebraska Red basketball team grabbed a pair of victories during the Best of Summer tournament in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The Red defeated the SW Dragons 70-35 Friday and then earned a 66-55 win over West Coast AS Saturday afternoon.
In its win over SW Dragon, Bison-Nebraska used a 16-0 run in the final four minutes of the first half to pull away and cruise to the victory. Humphrey St. Francis Kendal Bender scored four points, added five steals, three assists and eight rebounds in the win.
In Saturday's win, the Red overcame a 32 percent shooting effort in the first half. They turned the intensity up and then were 66 percent in the second half to pull away. Bender scored two points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the first half.
City Championship set for Saturday
COLUMBUS - The 36-hole Columbus Men's City Championship is scheduled to start Saturday. Saturday's first round will be at Elks Country Club, with the final round set for Quail Run Golf Course Sunday. The $65 entry fee includes greens fees for both days, a practice round at both courses, range balls, plaques for the division winners and more than $4,000 in the prize fund.
The tournament will consist of four divisions: Championship, A, B and net. A senior division for golfers older than 50 will be available. For more information, call Mike VunCannon at 564-4930 or Doug Dunbar at 564-1313.
Bellwood Run set for this weekend
BELLWOOD - The Bellwood Daze River Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.
A six-mile run, two-mile run/walk and a one-half mile kids run are offered. Entry fees are $10 for kids run, $15 for six-mile or two-mile races. Fees will increase by $5 after Thursday, including on race day. The race starts at St. Peter's Church in Bellwood. Registration begins at 7 a.m. For more information, contact Kevin at (402) 750-4437.
