What business would you like to see here?

Walgreens apparently will build its (corrected from there by blushing editor) much rumored new store. What businesses would you like to see come to Columbus and why?

" When we went to the College World Series in Omaha, we went down Maple Street and there were 2-3 Super Targets, and a super huge super walmart. Maple Street in Omaha has more shopping available in the whole town of Columbus! "

" Ok, I'm not really the spelling police, but when the Columbus Telegram does it I can't resist. Walgreens will build THEIR new store. Just wondering, where is it supposed to locate, and will they have 2 or close the existing one? "

" Lets see, we have a huge empty Walmart store which is a tremendous eye sore to the community. The original Wal-mart location (Menards) Will also be an eye sore to the community. What can we do with these buildings? First of all, everyone can agree that Columbus is expanding to the east only. Lets use these buildings for something. Stop building "malls without walls." No wonder Everyone goes out of town. How about a descent sized J.C Penneys for starters, and maybe a Sears that actually has a selection and a knowlegable and non-annoying customer service staff. Maybe we could get Godfathers to move into a larger building so that more than one person can get to the buffet at a time. How about some kind of family restaurant that has an affordable buffet (Western Sizzler, Ryans). No offense Kentucky Fry. Im a steak person. Enough Mexican and Chinese. How about family entertainment? Why don't our bowling facilities expand to larger buildings. Look at Norfolk! Id rather see empty land and the old drive in before seeing the non productive buildings. " Word to the Telegram-Walgreens apparently will build THEIR (not there) much rumoured new store. For a newspaper to misuse a word is totally inexcusable. And the post by Store? Don't even get me started. He must've dropped out of 8th grade to get a job on the kill floor where proper English isn't important. "

" You 2 have the wrong mindset. How about some companies that have actual good paying jobs. Now that is a novel idea - The city of Power & Progress having companies that pay a living. wage. As kid I remember my dad alway's expressing his view that Columbus and the state of Nebraska for that matter was a low wage, high tax state. At the time, as most young adolesants I didn't think "the old man" knew what he was talking about. Almost twenty years ago I moved out of state and almost immediately I saw what he was talking about - no personal property taxes, much lower real estate taxes, lower State Income Taxes. Above it all a living wage. Hmm? Who'ed a thunk - "the old man" did know what he was talking about. "

" I would like totally love another one of are 10 dollar stores, and maybe some more crappy haircut places, and build some more crappy strip malls. And have all of are some gay stores move into the new strip malls and leave the others empty. "

" I would like to see another store like Target, Super K-Mart, Shopko, or Kohl's. Anything to avoid having to go to Wal-Mart for EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! "
