COLUMBUS - The Lakeview Blue Lightning 14-and-under softball team jumped on Albion in the first inning and scored an 11-4 victory Monday.
Lakeview scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and added four more in the fourth frame to seal the win.
The Blue Lightning recorded just two hits, but drew 15 walks to put runners on base. Bobbi Hoefelman and Samantha Welch each notched singles to pace the offense.
Lakeview cut down Albion's biggest threat in the third inning because of Welch's alertness behind the plate. With the bases loaded and one out, Welch fielded a grounder in front of the plate and fired to third for the inning-ending double play.
Sara Leimser picked up the win in the circle for the Blue Lightning. She struck out four batters in two innings. Hoefelman and Kate Groteluschen also shared the pitching duties.
Lakeview will play the Columbus Pinnacle Bank Bullets in a doubleheader tonight at Lakeview.
