4 Columbus men die in 2 accidents

COLUMBUS - Four Columbus men are dead as the result of accidents in Wayne and Colfax counties.

Brandon D. Liebschwager, 18, Ryan Jablonski, 20, and Michael Konsel, 20, all of Columbus, were killed in a one-car accident about eight miles south of Wayne. According to a report from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the accident was reported at 9 a.m. Sunday and appeared to have happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

According to the report, the car was traveling southbound on County Road 579th Ave. and left the road. All three occupants were ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

In Colfax County, a Saturday car accident east of Schuyler claimed the life of David Bower, 51, of Columbus. Officials from the Colfax County Sheriff's office referred calls to the Colfax County Attorney's office, which had no information on the accident.

Information about funeral arrangements for the three young men killed in Wayne County appears on Page A6 of today's edition.

On Friday, Aaron M. Miller, 25, of St. Edward, was killed in an accident seven miles west of David City. Miller was a passenger in a car traveling southbound on county roads F and 35.

According to a press release from the Butler County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle driven by Thomas K. Rathje was traveling eastbound on County Road 35 when it struck the passenger side of a vehicle being driven southbound on County Road F by Brian Saathoff, causing both vehicles to end up in the southeast ditch area. The report said that stop signs were in place for the north and southbound traffic.

Miller was riding in the front seat of Saathoff's vehicle.

Saathoff and a back-seat passenger, Shawn Verney, and Rathje and his passenger, Amanda J. Reeg, were all transported to Butler County Health Care Center to be treated for their injuries.
