Betty Pfeifer

DAVID CITY - Betty J. Pfeifer, 78, of David City, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at David Place in David City.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in David City, with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial is at David City Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home in David City and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Pfeifer was born July 27, 1926, in Graham, Mo., to Harvey and Marie (Laub) Drennen. She graduated from Coin High School in Coin, Iowa.

She married Robert Jackson in 1944. They later divorced.

She married Orlen Pfeifer in August of 1959. They lived in Clarinda, Iowa, until moving to Manhattan, Kan., in 1960. They then moved to David City in 1961. She was the manager of the American Legion Club in David City, former owner and operator of Shop E-Z and assisted her husband in the veterinarian business.

She was a member of the church and American Legion Auxiliary of David City. She was a past member of the David City Chamber of Commerce and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling and cooking.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Dick) Taylor of Juniata; one stepson, Randy (Deb) Pfeifer of Florence, Ariz.; three brothers, Bob Drennen of Lenox, Iowa, Charles (Joyce) Drennen of Yorktown, Iowa, and Sam (Marilyn) Drennen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister, Helen (Paul) Ward of Maryville, Mo.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Donald Drennen; and one half-brother, Roy Drennen.
